When a frail, flea-covered kitten with a severe eye ulcer landed at Chicago Animal Care and Control, his future looked uncertain. Luckily, the dedicated team at One Tail at a Time stepped in just in time. They rushed the kitten—later named Shrimp Linguine—to receive urgent medical care. While his infected eye was at risk, rescuers refused to give up hope. They began treatment immediately, hoping to salvage his vision, and placed Shrimp with a loving foster family to begin his recovery. Despite his rough condition, Shrimp greeted his new life with pure joy, purring and playing from his very first evening indoors.

Shrimp’s foster mom, Brandy, couldn’t believe his resilience. Not only was the little kitten affectionate and full of spirit, but he quickly transformed into a cuddle-loving “purr machine” who adored attention. Bath time was a hit, his appetite bounced back, and he never once let his healing eye dampen his energy. Within days, Shrimp was not just getting better—he was thriving. As his strength returned, so did his playful side. He started climbing shoulders like a parrot, wrapping his paws around his foster family as if to say, “Thanks for saving me.”

Now, nearly fully healed and bursting with confidence, Shrimp is the ultimate shoulder cat—equal parts mischief and mush. He follows his humans around the house, ready for snuggles or silliness at any moment. “He’s the perfect mix of feisty and tender,” Brandy shared. As he prepares for adoption, Shrimp is enjoying every moment of his pampered indoor life. Tiny but mighty, he’s proof that a little love, a second chance, and some well-timed shoulder rides can change everything.
