After a bumpy road full of ups and downs, Lily the calico cat is once again looking for a place to truly call home. At just five years old, Lily has already experienced life in multiple households, only to be returned due to ongoing litter box issues—a challenge that her rescuers believe can be managed with a bit of patience and understanding. First surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services in Ontario, Canada, Lily found a temporary haven with Salty Animal Rescue, where co-founders Katelyn and Karly Saltarski welcomed her with compassion. Despite a shy start, Lily soon revealed her affectionate nature, winning over volunteers and eventually being adopted—only to be returned over a year later.

What makes Lily so special goes far beyond her striking calico markings. She’s a classic “lazy house cat” with a big heart and even bigger personality. Her favorite activities include following her people around, flopping down for chin and belly rubs, and kneading blankets like a pro biscuit maker. While she can exhibit a touch of classic “Calico cattitude,” those who give her the space and time to settle in are rewarded with a loyal companion who just wants to be the center of attention—and preferably the only pet in the house. She thrives in a quiet environment, where she can relax, snuggle, and maybe catch a bird video or two on the computer.

Lily’s journey is a reminder that every cat deserves a second (or third) chance and a home that’s willing to love them unconditionally. With a bit of help shedding some extra pounds and continued support for her litter box quirks, Lily has every potential to become the perfect feline companion. What she needs now is a forever family ready to commit to her for the long haul—one that will accept her for who she is: a sweet, sassy, and snuggly soul in search of a happy ending. For those in or near Dundas, Ontario, Lily is waiting patiently, hoping the next door she walks through will never close on her again.
