Joey Roo: The Two-Legged Ginger Cat Inspiring Tucson with His Kangaroo Spirit

A unique ginger cat has captured hearts in Tucson, Arizona, despite facing challenges that would deter most. Joey Roo, a cat born with a rare congenital condition called radial dysplasia, was found by the roadside without his front legs.

When he was taken to the Humane Society, he immediately sought a forever home—and a compassionate person named Cortney answered that call

Cortney first heard of Joey, previously named Bradley, through the shelter. Upon meeting him, she was immediately charmed by his ability to get around like a “tiny kangaroo.”

It was clear to her right away that they were meant for each other. Joey made himself at home quickly, even proving his agility by jumping high enough to explore the trash can.

Joey is not only agile but also loving. “He thrives on attention and adores being held and petted,” Cortney shared with Love Meow.

His deformities don’t hinder his ability to enjoy life—or the company of others. Whether it’s playing with foster dogs and cats or climbing a six-foot cat tree with ease, Joey does it all with gusto.

The ginger cat has adapted incredibly well, using stairs, jumping onto couches, and wrestling with his feline friends just like any other cat.

His unique way of moving lets him strike a perfect T-Rex pose, standing up with prowess and balance. He also loves lounging on his perch, overseeing all the activities in the house.

Joey is a constant companion to Cortney, following her wherever she goes and keeping her company by curling up in her lap.

Whenever they venture out, Joey enjoys greeting new friends from the comfort of his cart, always curious about the world around him.

“Despite appearances, Joey shows life’s true adventure is about what you make of it,” Cortney remarked. Spirited and sociable, he’s even been known to help foster other rescue animals in need.
