Tiny Peanut: The One-Eyed Stray Who Became a Beloved “Forever Kitten

A stray cat found her way to a family’s doorstep a couple of years ago and decided to settle in. “We instantly connected, so she stayed with us,” Alex shared with Love Meow. Within a few weeks, Alex discovered that the new family member was pregnant.

The mother cat, affectionately known as Mama Plop, gave birth to four kittens. Among them was a particularly unique kitten named Peanut, often referred to as P because of her tiny size.

Alex quickly realized that Peanut was different from her siblings. Unlike the rest, she couldn’t nurse efficiently from her mother. “I started bottle-feeding her until she was able to eat wet food,” Alex explained to Love Meow.

Peanut was notably smaller than her siblings, weighing just half as much. “For a while, her weight was so low that it was hard for the vet to even measure it,” Alex added.

Despite being born with only one eye and partially missing her nose, Peanut’s spirit was indomitable. Her right side showed signs of these defects, yet Alex assured that she was “purrfectly healthy otherwise.”

As Peanut grew, her unique features became even more adorable, especially her snaggletooth. Despite her physical differences, she developed a wonderfully affectionate personality.

“She’s incredibly sweet and needy,” Alex described. “She often finds me around the house, leading me to her food bowl, not just for food, but for a little petting.”

Peanut also enjoys perching on her human dad’s shoulders every evening while Alex cooks, hoping for a little treat and some extra cuddles. “She’s honestly my best friend,” Alex confessed to Love Meow.

Fast forward two years, Peanut weighs around four pounds, retaining her “forever kitten” charm. Despite her petite stature, she more than makes up for it with her lively personality.

Recently, Peanut welcomed a new sister, Phoebe, into her home. Despite being only six months old, Phoebe has already surpassed Peanut in size. The two have formed an inseparable bond, creating a perfect little feline family.

Reflecting on the journey, Alex recalled how some advised against keeping Peanut, claiming it wasn’t “worth it.” Yet, Alex’s compassion paid off. “By giving her a chance, I received one of the greatest gifts in my life,” Alex told Love Meow.
